45-year-old Francis Suarez joins the long list of contenders for the Republican Party nomination for the US presidential election in 2024.
New candidate in the race for the White House. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez filed his official candidacy for the 2024 presidential election on Wednesday according to documents released by the Federal Election Commission, joining the dozen Republican contenders anxious to block Donald Trump’s way.
The forties should formalize his candidacy this Thursday, during a “big speech” promised to his supporters.
Trump remains favorites
He joins an already crowded arena of Republican candidates, all of whom are currently well behind in the polls by the twice-indicted former president.
Francis Suarez is also the third candidate from Florida to declare himself a candidate, after his governor, Ron DeSantis, and Donald Trump, installed in a luxurious residence in Mar-a-Lago since his departure from the White House.
Most of these candidates will be opposed during a first debate on August 23. The winner of these primaries will face in November 2024 the candidate chosen by the Democratic Party, most likely President Joe Biden.
