According to Russian authorities, Ukraine launched a major attack last night using drones and missiles. A total of 45 drones are said to have been shot down in various regions of Russia, some of them in the Moscow region.
Eleven drones have been seized in a suburb of Moscow, the mayor of the Russian capital says. He calls it one of the biggest Ukrainian attacks since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
Several airports in Moscow were closed for several hours as a precaution. Sheremetyevo International Airport remains open.

The governor of Rostov province also reports that drones were shot down. The Ukrainian military says a Russian missile system was destroyed in that province.
Ukraine has intensified air attacks on Russian territory in recent months. According to Kyiv, this is necessary to stop the supply of Russian equipment.
