44 years ago he created the Nîmes Handisport club: Philippe Bernard awarded

Philippe Bernard will receive the gold medal for Youth and Sport this Thursday for his constant commitment to associations serving disabled sports.

Philippe Bernard is now vice president of the Nîmes handisport club, which he created in 1978. For almost 45 years, the volunteer has shown a constant commitment to licensees. This Thursday, at 6.30 pm, in the VIP rooms of the Costières stadium, Philippe Bernard will receive the gold medal of Youth and Sports, the highest recognition that rewards volunteering and commitment to associations. The Municipality of Nîmes, represented by the municipal councilor Dominique Lacambra, will also award him a medal. Representatives of regional and departmental sports committees for disabled people are expected, as well as all members of Nîmes.

Lifeguard Philippe Bernard is in charge of the club’s swimming section and continues to take part in all major Nîmes Handisport events. The next will also be the organization with the regional committee of Occitania, on 1, 2 and 3 June, of three days of celebration in Nîmes, with an inter-company challenge, then the participation of school groups and finally a public day with a village open to all.
