A 44-year-old man from Pfungstadt in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district triggered a major police operation on Wednesday morning. The man was being evicted from his apartment, the police announced on Thursday.
When a city employee wanted to call on the person concerned in the morning, he opened the door and threatened the city employee with a pistol. The city employee then alerted the police, who arrived a short time later with special forces. Goethestrasse and the adjacent street were temporarily closed.
According to them, the police entered the apartment, but the resident had since disappeared. When searching the apartment, the officers found a gas pistol and confiscated it. No other weapons were found.
