Krefeld (dpa) – A 44-year-old without a permanent address has become the victim of a crime in Krefeld. The police found his body with cuts and stab wounds on his neck and upper body, a police spokesman said on Saturday. Local residents had previously alerted the emergency services on Friday because of loud noises and blood in the stairwell.
They then came across the 44-year-old in an open apartment. Attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful. In the immediate vicinity of the crime scene, police officers discovered a 22-year-old from Krefeld with blood on his hands and clothing. He was arrested.
Police found a knife in the apartment as the suspected murder weapon. A homicide commission took up the investigation. On Saturday, a judge sent the 22-year-old into custody for manslaughter. The background to the crime was initially unclear. The victims and suspects are Germans.
