In Turkey, 44 people have died in recent days after drinking illegally distilled alcohol.
According to the Turkish police, cleaning products with alcohol have been used to make the drinks. People were killed in at least seven provinces in Turkey. Most of the victims were in the western province of Izmir, where 18 people died.
Inexpensive alternative
In Turkey, the tax on alcohol has recently increased significantly, leading people to look for cheaper alternatives. They often end up with people who illegally burn alcoholic drinks.
Turkish police have arrested 58 people in the past four days. They are suspected of making and selling the toxic alcoholic drinks.
