Opel has improved the technical performance of its commercial vehicle Movano, including the range.
Until now, Opel’s large van was forced to make do with a 90 kW electric motor and 37/70 kWh batteries, which provided a modest 117/224 kilometers on a single charge, but after the facelift carried out in the fall, the situation has changed drastically. Movano now has a 200 kW motor (previously 90 kW), which is not only twice as powerful, but endowed with a much higher torque: 400 Nm compared to 260 Nm before. The van’s maximum speed has increased from 110 to 130 kilometers per hour, while the 110 kilowatt-hour battery allows it to travel up to 420 kilometers without additional charging.
As with most Stellantis electric cars, you can choose one of three driving modes that also affect performance: Eco 120 kW, Normal 160 kW and Power for a full 200 kW. In addition, four recuperation levels are available for energy recovery during braking.
The modernized Movano Electric is already equipped with an 11 kW three-phase charger for AC charging as standard. It is the first Opel to also offer a charging option with up to 150 kW of direct current, promising to charge up to 80 percent in 55 minutes.
The Movano is also available with a diesel engine, but a Movano Hydrogen is promised in 2024. The range of the hydrogen Movano (400 km with a full tank) will not be able to beat the electric version, but in this case the benefit is in terms of time – the hydrogen fuel tank can be filled in 5 minutes.
