The corona numbers in Hamburg have improved slightly, but remain at a high level. According to the social authority, 418 new corona infections were registered on Friday. That is 78 fewer cases than a week ago and 88 fewer than on Thursday.
The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week fell slightly to 123.6. A week ago the value was 103.8.
“We have noticed that we have increasing numbers again, especially with families and in the circle of friends”, Social Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) said in an interview with NDR Info on Friday morning before the current figures were published. “For example, we recently had a high number of people infected around a student mulled wine party. Unfortunately, we also had two larger outbreaks in elderly care.”

More people in the hospital again
In the hospitals of the Hanseatic city, as of Thursday, 402 corona patients were being treated as inpatients, 11 people more than stated the day before. The number of patients in intensive care units is now 88, with an increase of 2 people. 73 of the patients in the intensive care units come from Hamburg.
According to the social authorities, a total of 28,624 people in Hamburg have tested positive for the corona virus since the pandemic began. According to estimates by the Robert Koch Institute, around 21,200 of these can now be regarded as recovered.
Corona deaths on average over 80 years
According to the Institute for Forensic Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), 382 people in the Hanseatic city have died of Covid 19 disease. These cases are not reported on a daily basis, but bundled after the autopsies. The new head of the institute, Benjamin Ondruschka, said on Wednesday evening in the Hamburg Journal of NDR television that the average age of the deceased was over 80 years. There are only a few deaths in patients under 60 years of age. As a rule, these would have had a previous illness.
