4,000 Protesters Rallying Against Pension Reforms in Paris, Resulting in Seven Arrests

CALL FOR DISPERSION IN PARIS

While nearly 4,000 people marched this Saturday evening in the south of Paris, ATAC, the organizer of the rally which started in Place d’Italie, called for the dispersal shortly before 8 p.m., due to unrest during the demonstration. According to a police source at TF1 / LCI, around 100 to 200 disruptive elements set fire to garbage cans and tried to set up barricades.

In addition, according to the Paris prefecture, 400 people were checked this evening in Concorde, where gatherings were banned, 60 individuals were fined and 10 arrests took place.

Elsewhere in France, the other demonstrations organized during the day passed off peacefully. Some tensions are recorded in Nantes, with the throwing of projectiles at the police, in Rouen (intrusion into a shopping center), in Caen (damage), in Bordeaux (garbage fires) and in Amiens and Dijon where individuals entered the station.
