After more than two years of absence due to the health crisis, the French cross-country championships take place from November 12 to 14, 2021 at the Allègres racecourse in Montauban.
On your marks … The French cross-country championships are back after two and a half years of absence. Organized by the City of Montauban, the French Athletics Federation and the Departmental Committee of Tarn-et-Garonne, the competition returns to Occitanie 26 years after an edition which took place in Castres.
The elite of the discipline is present. In total, no less than 4,000 athletes will compete throughout the weekend. The public is also expected in large numbers at the Allègres racecourse to encourage athletes.
The weekend program
- Saturday November 13, at 10:30 am: a race open to all (registrations are closed). Athletes will have the opportunity to take the course of the French championships, i.e. 9,823 meters. All participants will then be able to attend the French Championships the next day.
- Sunday November 14: the day’s program promises to be dense with several races scheduled.

A technical course
According to communicated, “the course will be technical, with natural hillocks, with sandy, earthy, ashy portions, and even a hill of about 4 meters with a slope of 30 °, created for the occasion to add an additional difficulty …”
People expected in Montauban, traffic disrupted
The town hall has indicated that parking and traffic will be severely disrupted. The municipality has therefore set up shuttles to facilitate access to the site from parking lots for spectators.

All athletics enthusiasts will have, for a weekend, their eyes riveted on the prefecture town of Tarn-et-Garonne. Hoping that the gloomy weather does not discourage the athletes because many spectators will come to support them!
