Nearly 400 people were arrested in France and Belgium after the Morocco-France World Cup semi-final in Qatar, according to police reports on Thursday.
A spokeswoman for the French police told German news agency Dpa that 266 people have been arrested after violence across the country, including 167 in the French capital, Paris.
And the Belgian news agency “Belga” reported in advance that almost 100 people were arrested in the Belgian capital Brussels after the clashes that occurred after the match.
Belga said, citing police, that the detained fans were charged with disturbing public order, damaging two police cars and possessing prohibited fireworks.
The report indicated that security fencing was imposed on parts of the streets in the city center ahead of the match.
Images taken on Wednesday evening showed piles of rubbish set on fire, as well as the deployment of large numbers of police and riot police on the streets of Brussels.
The images published by the “Belgian” agency also showed some citizens cleaning the streets on Wednesday.
And the British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported that clashes between fans took place on the streets of Paris, Nice and Montpellier on Wednesday evening after the end of the match.
He added that a shocking video showed horrific moments in which a boy was hit by a car on a street in Montpellier after the semi-final ended.
