The local deputy in the LX Legislature of the state of Querétaro, Dulce Imelda Ventura Rendón, reported the results of the “Blue November: Chécate” campaign, which carried out promotion and prevention actions on cancer during the month of November and part of December. prostate and testicular.
The legislator president of the Health Commission indicated that more than 400 men between 18 and 80 years of age were treated during the health days; For this reason, he considered this campaign as successful, given the importance of generating awareness in the male gender of prevention.
“We are very happy because the ‘Chécate’ campaign was a success. People responded very well to the call and fortunately we were able to bring information and services to men on this public health problem through four work days ”.
The deputy recalled that, in Querétaro, 7 out of 10 men who are diagnosed with prostate or testicular cancer are in an advanced stage, so timely attention and detection is essential to save the lives of patients.
“Let us remember that the objective of the campaign was to raise awareness and awareness of the population of the state of Querétaro with respect to prostate and testicular cancer, in addition to promoting the participation of the different political sectors to generate a network of support and solidarity for the population that is going through this situation ”.
Ventura Rendón said that the campaign took place in the Transitional Home for homeless people; in the Pedro Escobedo municipal esplanade; as well as in Plaza del Parque, central dome; and the Teatro del Pueblo, in Jalpan de Serra; in addition to carrying out campaigns on social networks and making alliances with private institutions.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Health carried out activities to detect prostate growth, detection of arterial hypertension, detection of diabetes mellitus, detection of obesity, vaccination against influenza, family planning, General Practitioner, rapid HIV tests, preventive talks, advice about vasectomy and delivery of contraceptive methods.
At the same time, the Municipal DIF Systems of each municipality sent support services such as: psychological orientation, legal orientation, ophthalmological examination and glucometers; While the Asociación Damas Azules en Cancerología de Querétaro IAP, offered 50 treatments to those who tested positive for prostate cancer.
