40-year-old Golf in perfect condition put up for auction in UK :: Autonews

On the British Silverstone Auctions website appeared 1980 Volkswagen Golf auction announcement. The car is in perfect condition and almost no run.

In the description of the lot it is indicated that no one used the car in the first 19 years after its release. The owner just bought it as a spare car, took it to the UK and put it in the garage. But the main car served for a very long time, and after 15 years of inactivity, the Golf turned into a kind of “time capsule”, it was simply a pity to use it. Until 1999, the car left the garage only twice – to check the air valve’s performance and to register. It was necessary for passing the vehicle inspection and subsequent sale.

Then the car was bought by a British collector, who had hardly driven it for 20 years – the odometer still shows a little less than 1200 km, taking into account the distance from central Europe. The car appeared on the pages of VW Motoring magazine almost immediately after purchase. The new owner took good care of the car, and as a result, Volkswagen reached 2020 in perfect condition.

Over the past 20 years, Volkswagen has gone through four MOTs and is coming to the market in perfect condition, with two keys and a clean velor interior.

The car has a right-hand drive, a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 50 hp, capable of accelerating to 100 km / h in 19 seconds. This is one of the slowest cars in its class, but it also has a consumption of only 6.5 liters per 100 km.

Silverstone Auctions does not provide an estimate of the lot value.
