All regions of Ukraine sounded the alarm in the morning, with media reporting explosions in different parts of the country, including the capital Kiev.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko called on people to take refuge in shelters.
“Currently, 40 (Russian) missiles have hit targets in the country,” Gerashchenko said.
Several attacks have been confirmed by regional officials. Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko reported that the attack in the capital caused partial blackouts and disrupted water supplies.

He said that due to damage to the energy infrastructure, some 350,000 apartments experienced power outages.
Kharkov Mayor Igor Terekhov said there were two air strikes against “critical infrastructure sites”. The city’s subway also suspended services due to the attack.
Head of the Cherkasy regional government Igor Taburets also reported attacks on critical infrastructure.
