According to the Head of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Agus Rizal Ardy Hariandy Hamid, SpU (K) Ph.D, there are more than 13,000 prostate cancer patients every year.
“The international survey data we get shows that every year there are at least 13,000 new patients,” said Dr. Agus in the webinar “The importance of early detection and treatment of prostate cancer in adults to increase life expectancy” Monday (06/09/2021).
Even so, Dr. Agus emphasized that this is the minimum data obtained. There are many cases of prostate cancer out there that are not recorded so it is likely that the number of prostate cancer patients could be higher.
“We assume that it is minimal data, but in fact there are still many who are not caught or not recorded properly,” said Dr. Agus.
Meanwhile, Dr dr Irfan Wahyudi, SpU (K), Head of the Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (FKUI-RSCM), said that most of the new patients diagnosed at the age of 60-79 years.
“It was noted, according to recent publications, that most patients came at stage 4. Most of them came/diagnosed at the age of 60-79 years,” concluded Dr. Irfan.

With age, the risk of developing prostate cancer increases. Prostate cancer is most commonly found in patients over the age of 50.

3. Obesity

4. Diet and lifestyle
A diet high in saturated fat can increase the risk of prostate cancer. While an unhealthy lifestyle, such as infrequent movement, unbalanced nutrition and nutrition and smoking are also causes of prostate cancer.
