4 soldiers killed in Galvan: China | World | Deshabhimani

Beijing
China says four of its soldiers were killed in clashes with India in Galvan last year. This is the first time since the June 5 incident that China has officially released the death toll. They were posthumously honored by the Central Military Commission. China says four of its soldiers were killed while trying to prevent an intrusion. The Chinese soldiers were beaten and stoned with steel tubes and heavy sticks.

The military’s official newspaper, the PLA Daily, reported that Chen Hongjun, Chen Xiangong, Xiao Xuan and Wang Zhuoran were killed. Three were killed in the clashes, and one died while crossing the river to help others. The regimental commander of the army, Qi Fabavoy, was seriously wounded in the head.

The report does not mention India’s name but refers to it as a foreign army. The Global Times reported that 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the clashes, which did not hurt the feelings of the people in the wake of the ongoing border clashes. At the time, the Russian agency Tass reported that 45 Chinese soldiers had been killed.
