President Vladimir Putin put forward four demands that must be met Ukraine for Russia to stop the invasion of the country.
Quoting from an exclusive report BBC Newstwo of the four demands are still difficult to meet by Ukraine.
Erdogan’s spokesman Ibrahim Kalin told BBC NewsRussian President Vladimir Putin telephoned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday (17/3) to convey the four demands.
The four demands were also divided into two categories, namely points that were easy to fulfill and difficult to accept by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Here are four Russian claims to Ukraine.
Russia’s Acceptable Russian Claims Ukraine
1. Ukraine Becomes a Neutral Status
President Vladimir Putin wants Ukraine to sign a neutrality agreement and amend their constitution in this regard, as reported by CNBC.
Ukraine itself has reportedly proposed a neutral-demilitarized status model such as the Austrian and Swedish model.
“The preservation and development of Ukraine’s neutral status, the demilitarization of Ukraine and various issues related to the size of the Ukrainian armed forces are being discussed,” said Vladimir Medinsky as quoted by TASS, Thursday (17/3).
“Ukraine proposes a demilitarized neutral status which has its own army and navy. All these issues are still being discussed at the level of the defense ministers of Russia and Ukraine,” he added.
2. Russia ‘bans’ Ukraine from entering NATO
Russia wants legal guarantees that Ukraine will never be allowed into NATO.
The Kremlin strongly objected if Ukraine entered NATO because it would threaten the country’s ‘home page’.
Putin also said there must be a very binding agreement that Ukraine will never join NATO.

3. The Disarmament of Ukraine’s Military Powers at Russia’s Wish
Russia asks Ukraine not just to become a neutral-demilitarized country. Putin wants to ensure Ukraine’s intentions by disarming its neighboring country’s military power so that it does not threaten Russia.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s desire for a neutral status such as Sweden and Ukraine is still not convincing for Russia. On the other hand, Ukraine also objected if Russia seemed to dictate their military strength.
4. Protection of Russian-Speaking Ukrainians and Denazification
Putin also asked that Ukraine should guarantee the protection of its Russian-speaking citizens and carry out Denazification.
Even the Russian demands may be difficult for Zelensky to accept. For Zelensky, the demands for Denazification deeply offended him because he himself came from a Jewish family who had been victims of the Nazis.
