4 recent facts about Ismail Bolong threatened with 5 years in prison

Ismail Bolong was listed as a suspect in the case of illegal mining in the East Kalimantan region (East Kalimantan). Ismail Bolong is threatened with 5 years in prison.

The news that he had been suspected was passed on by his lawyer, Johanes Tobing. This was communicated a day after Ismail Bolong was examined on Tuesday (6/12/2022).

“We have to communicate that IB has officially become a suspect, and in this way we also communicate that Mr. IB has been officially detained,” Johanes told reporters in the building. Bareskrim National Police, Wednesday (7/12).

Johanes revealed that his client was not involved in a corruption case. Ismail Bolong is said to have violated Article 158 of Minerba Law No. 3 of 2020 in conjunction with Article 159 in conjunction with Article 161 related to illegal mining.

“We must speak frankly regarding the case which is suspected of having three articles against our client Mr. IB, articles 158, 159, 161 regarding the licensing and illegal distribution of mining assets and so on,” Johanes said.

1. A fine of IDR 100 billion

In addition to being sentenced to 5 years in prison, Ismail Bolong was also fined 100 billion rupees. Public relations chief Divhumas Polri Kombes Nurul Azizah said this.

“The suspected articles are Article 158 and Article 161 of Law No. 3 of 2020 on Coal and Mineral Mining with a maximum penalty of 5 years’ imprisonment and a maximum fine of IDR 100 billion,” he said Nurul to journalists, Thursday (8/12 )).

Apart from that, Ismail Bolong was charged under Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Penal Code for his role in organizing a number of illegal mining activities and the Commissioner of PT Energindo Mitra Pratama (PT EMP), who does not have a permit mining.

OLRI named two of Ismail Bolong’s colleagues as suspects in the illegal mining case in East Kalimantan. Both have the initials BP and RP.

“The TKP at PT MTE Special Terminal (PT Makaramma Timur Energi) which is located in East Kalimantan and the place for extraction and storage of the coal from illegal mining which is also included in PKP2B (Coal Mining Work Agreement) PT SB (Santan Batubara),” National Police Public Relations Division Chief Kombes Nurul Azizah said in his statement on Thursday (8/12).

BP acts as a coal miner and RP as a director of PT Energindo Mitra Pratama (PT EMP), which does not have a business licence. Meanwhile, Ismail Bolong has a role in running a number of illegal mining activities and is the Commissioner of PT EMP.

“In addition, IB has a role in regulating a number of illegal mining activities within the PKP2B environment of other companies and serves as Commissioner of PT EMP, which does not have a mining permit to conduct mining” , he has declared.
