FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has just named former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) as a suspect in an alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

The KPK announced the suspect’s determination on Wednesday (11/10/2023) at around 20.50 WITA evening.

Upon learning of this news, SYL, who was in his hometown visiting his mother Nurhayati Yasin Limpo, immediately left for Jakarta.

The former two-term governor of South Sulawesi left his mother’s house on Jalan Haji Bau, Ujung Pandang District, not long after the Corruption Eradication Commission named him a suspect.

The SYL family representative, Imran Eka Saputra, said that in connection with the KPK’s official announcement, his party admitted that they appreciated the decision. As representatives of relatives, they conveyed 4 important points.

“We respect the authority of the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) in the context of law enforcement which is currently underway,” said Imran in a written statement received by dawn.co.id, Thursday (12/10/2023) early in the morning.

In the second point, the family ensures that SYL is cooperative in dealing with the case that ensnared him.

“We ensure that Mr. SYL is committed to remaining cooperative and will face the legal process at the Corruption Eradication Committee,” Imran said.

Third, after meeting his mother in Makassar, SYL became more confident that he could overcome the problems that were happening to him.

“We hope that the public can provide Mr. SYL with sufficient space to defend himself in this legal process,” he added.

Previously it was reported that SYL left the residence of his mother, Nurhayati Yasin Limpo on Jalan Haji Bau, Ujung Pandang District, Makassar City after learning that he had been named a suspect.
