Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson Ahmad Ali was not present because he was still in Japan. NasDem Secretary General Johnny Gerard Plate, who was originally reported to be attending, also confirmed not to accompany Paloh. “There is another agenda, for tasks,” said Taslim.

1. Not yet discussing the Coalition

He said it was still too early for NasDem and Gerindra to form a coalition in the 2024 elections. Starting today’s lunch, he hoped that the friendly relationship between the two general chairmen could continue. “I think it is the basic capital of Indonesian politics,” he said.
Secretary General of the NaDem Party Johnny G Plate said the meeting was a gathering. “Intense and fluid communication between leaders is a good thing and should be an example for politicians and citizens who support the NasDem Party and Gerindra,” he said.
The Minister of Communication and Information said Surya Paloh always prioritized the politics of Ahimsa, namely not teaching violence, providing protection for self-esteem and respect for friends.
When asked whether the meeting would discuss cooperation between the two parties, Plate said once again that the meeting was only a friendly meeting. “The aisle seats for the 2024 presidential candidates will be filled soon after the NasDem National Working Meeting on 15-16 June 2022,” said Plate.
2. Agree on National Stability
NasDem Party chairman Surya Paloh said his meeting with Prabowo reached an agreement to maintain national stability in the 2024 presidential election.

Paloh said the two parties would appreciate healthier politics in the 2024 General Election. He said competition in elections should not bring each other down.

According to Surya Paloh, he and Prabowo agreed that they must build public awareness to reject identity politics, sect politics, and groups. “Mas Prabowo and I have an agreement in facing our elections together to look after each other, respect and remind each other if there are deficiencies,” he said.
Prabowo on the same occasion said that he and Paloh both had responsibilities to the party. However, he said, they also have a commitment to maintain the integrity of Indonesia. “So we are not just for the election, we are more than that,” he said.
