AMLO recognizes production of fentanyl in Mexico

Despite having denied it on repeated occasions, in April of this year, the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador He admitted in an interview on the CBS program “60 Minutes” that Mexico does produce fentanyla synthetic opioid considered addictive and dangerous. But he said that little of it is produced in the country, since production is also recorded in the United States and Canada.

The Mexican president made the statement to the US program despite the fact that he had been denying it in his morning press conferences since the beginning of his term in 2018.

In his five and a half years of government, Lopez Obrador has faced accusations from the US State Department for the production of the fentanyla topic that has been present in conversations between both countries.
