4 Longest Non-Stop Flights in the World, Some Nearly 19 Hours All

KOMPAS.comQantas has unveiled plans for the world’s longest-running commercial flight by the end of 2025, with the Sydney-London route using the Airbus A350 in just 19 hours.

Only a handful of airlines fly non-stop over such long distances, due to a number of challenges including aircraft capability, commercial viability and even the health of crew and passengers.

Quoted from the news agency AFP on Monday (2/5/2022), here are four non-stop flights with the longest duration in the world today.

The airline also has the second longest flight route, SQ22, which also uses the A350-900. The destination is Newark in the US state of New Jersey with a duration of 18 hours 25 minutes.

3. Los Angeles to Singapore: Over 17 hours

Singapore Airlines flight SQ35 carries passengers over 14,000 km across the Pacific Ocean from Los Angeles on the US West Coast to Singapore in 17 hours 10 minutes.

The Singapore Airlines flight with the San Francisco-Singapore route is also almost the same duration, to be exact, 16 hours 40 minutes.

The flight path will cover a distance of 16,668 kilometers in 16 to 17 hours, the airline told AFP.

However, Cathay Pacific declined to explain why its flight path remains as much through Russian airspace as it previously did, according to Bloomberg.

Many airlines canceled routes to Russian cities or avoided Russian airspace because of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

Cathay Pacific only said the decision was taken due to strong seasonal winds so the new route was more profitable.
