1. Wife of the four kings
King Maha Vajiralongkorn married Queen Suthida as his fourth wife in May 2019, mother. Previously, the king was married to Soamsawali Kitiyakara (from 1977 to 1993), Sujarinee Vivacharawongse (from 1994 to 1996) and Srirasmi Suwadee (from 2001 to 2014). All previous marriages have resulted in divorce.
2. I was a flight attendant and bodyguard
Queen Suthida was a flight attendant. After the end of her career as a flight attendant, she went on a very different career path. She joined the Ratchawanlop guards in 2013. This is a group of bodyguards who protect the crown prince and are appointed special officers of the crown prince’s guards regiment.
Then, in August 2015, Queen Suthida was promoted to lieutenant general. He also joined the Royal Thai Army and was promoted to the rank of general in 2016.
3. Age difference of 26 years
The love story between the two began when the king was still a crown prince. Queen Suthida and King Vajiralongkorn have a large age difference of 26 years.
Even so, the big age difference isn’t a big deal for the two. This didn’t actually dampen their romance.
4. Wedding ceremony
King Vajiralongkorn married Queen Suthida a few days before her coronation. Footage of the wedding ceremony was shown on Thai TV channels.
The broadcast showed the presence of members of the royal family and palace councilors. King Maha Vajiralongkorn was also seen pouring holy water on Queen Suthida’s head. The couple then signed the marriage certificate.
The holy procession happened unexpectedly because the palace had not confirmed the couple’s relationship. Even so, it’s not a big deal.
The relationship between the king and queen has existed for a long time. The two have been seen together in public for years even though their relationship has never been officially recognized.
