Chairman of the Indonesian Employers’ Association (Apindo) Hariyadi B. Sukamdani said one of the proposals relates to concessions for shopping centers or malls to operate. The proposal was submitted because shopping center entrepreneurs are facing difficulties after being closed for a full month during the implementation of emergency PPKM and Level 4.
They promised that if the proposal was accepted, mall and restaurant managers would enforce strict health protocols (prokes) so that the transmission of the corona virus in malls and restaurants could be prevented.
“We see that the sectors that carry out strict procedures should be relaxed, namely retail malls and restaurants. But in yesterday’s extension, it was actually the stalls that were relaxed. Those that enforced strict procedures were not given (relaxation),” he told CNNIndonesia.com, Monday (9/8).
Another suggestion is that the manufacturing sector can operate, although it is not included in the essential or critical sectors. The reason is that the manufacturing sector is related to the supply chain (supply chain).
Cessation of operations when PPKM is feared will disrupt upstream production which can have an impact on downstream conditions.
“For example, making pistons for export cars. If they are not allowed to operate, it will be chaotic in the end, there will be problems, because it is needed to complete the components of the car,” he said.
Another suggestion is to intensify the handling of COVID-19 through 3T and vaccination, not by extending PPKM level 4.
Hariyadi regretted that the average price of the Covid-19 PCR test in Indonesia reached Rp. 750 thousand. According to him, it is still too expensive.
In fact, he said, PCR is the most accurate method compared to antigen. According to him, the cheaper the price of the PCR test, the prevention of early transmission can be done because people want to take the test.
“It’s like India now. I read in India Today, the PCR test in New Delhi costs only Rp. 97,000 in rupiah. If PCR is so low in India, why can’t we do it, now the key is there,” he said.
He said that no matter how much stimulus the government had launched, it would not be sufficient if the corona case was prolonged. This condition forced the government to carry out PPKM level so that the business world did not wake up.
Therefore, he hopes that the government will improve the quality of 3T and speed up vaccination.
“If it’s useless if PPKM wants to be extended at any time, it won’t work out if this is the way it is. So, the focus is on handling covid that is the most important thing. If you ask for any stimulus it will not be enough, if this condition continues, tomorrow it will be extended again, extended again, restaurants are closed, retail is closed,” he said.
Chairman of the Finance & Banking Division of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) Ajib Hamdani added that the extension of PPKM level 4 must be balanced with an extension of credit restructuring.
In fact, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has signaled the extension of credit restructuring. However, Ajib believes that there are several things that need to be improved.
“There are still several points that need to be added, one of which is interest relief, for example a maximum interest of 3 percent above SBI. So that debtors can arrange cash flowIt’s better,” he said.
However, he stated that business actors would encourage the government to increase the implementation of prokes. Agree with Hariyadi, the handling of COVID-19 should be maximized so that cases can be suppressed. In the end, economic activity can resume running.
