A number of viruses and bacteria are transmitted through kissing and can provoke, for example, stomach diseases. What can you get infected with, Anna Serdyuk, a dermatologist, told Klops.
“A lot of bacteria live in the oral cavity, 80% of them are the same for people, and only 20% can be individual. When kissing, partners exchange these bacteria, and nothing bad happens. But if the human immune system is weakened, then you can get infected, ”says the doctor.
The infection enters the body through saliva, enters the bloodstream through microdamages that people do not even know about. Later, a person may experience unpleasant symptoms that are caused by a virus.
Herpes
The virus causes painful blisters on the lips, near the nose, and in the mouth. It is transmitted during an exacerbation. You can not kiss a person in whom these rashes have not acquired a crust.
Mononucleosis
An infectious disease that provokes the fourth type of herpes, aka the Epstein-Barr virus. It multiplies in the oral cavity, leads to an increase in lymph nodes, high fever and the development of tonsillitis. After kissing an infected person, symptoms appear after two weeks.
Human papillomavirus (HPV)
Causes small benign neoplasms on the skin and mucous membranes. The so-called warts have oncogenic properties and can cause cancer of the genital organs. You can get HPV through kissing.
Helicobacter pylori
The bacterium lives on the walls of the gastric mucosa and does not manifest itself for a long time. It provokes inflammatory processes that lead to gastritis or stomach ulcers. During a kiss, Helicobacter pylori can only be contracted if the immune system is weakened.
If you suspect that you could get infected with something through a kiss, rinse your mouth with a solution of any antiseptic, even plain water will do. Also, experts advise to strengthen the immune system and monitor the health of the oral cavity.
