Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will close their land routes for the delivery of goods to the Russian Federation and Belarus
Russia’s isolation over the war in Ukraine continues. Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will impose a complete transport blockade on Russia and Belarus. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Mustafa Nayem in “Next”.
“Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will begin the process of complete isolation from Russia and Belarus in the next 48-72 hours, thus closing their land routes for the delivery of goods to these countries. Last week we officially addressed our colleagues “We ask you to stop all road communication with the Russian Federation and Belarus. Thank you to all the transport ministers of the listed countries. The reaction is immediate. We are waiting for the final result,” Nayem said.
Just a day ago, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia announced they were abandoning Russian gas imports in response to the war in Ukraine. Initially, they will use reserves in an underground gas storage facility in Latvia. “If we can do that, the rest of Europe can do it,” Latvian company Conexus Baltic Grid said in a statement.
At the beginning of the war, all EU countries closed their airspace to Russian aircraft. Since then, Russia has been subjected to unprecedented economic sanctions, most recently the EU plans to discuss an embargo on Russian oil and gas imports.
