Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Camera sensor technology has always been a mainstay of the latest HP launches, including the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and a 200MP rear camera. However, it turns out that there are already 4 cellphones equipped with 200MP cameras at a much lower price than the product flagship the Samsung.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra offers a 200MP camera with the latest ISOCELL HP2 sensor. Just launched a few days ago, this cellphone promises high-quality photos even in dark light situations (low light).
The director of The Martian, Ridley Scott, admitted that the Galaxy S23 Ultra can be used in the film shooting process to replace a professional camera. It’s no wonder that Samsung dares to set high prices for the Ultra variant, which starts at Rp. 20 million to Rp. 26 million.
However, the 200MP camera innovation is actually nothing new. Several cellphones whose prices are far below the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but offer cameras with similar megapixels.
It should be noted that the size of the camera sensor pixels is not the only technology that determines the quality of digital photos. The capabilities of other systems and the use of software can make the quality of the resulting photos very different on two cellphones that both have 200MP cameras.
Here are 4 cellphones with 200MP cameras:
Moto X30 Pro/Edge 30 Ultra
Motorola became the first HP manufacturer to start innovating a 200MP resolution camera with the ISOCELL HP1 sensor from Samsung. This cellphone was first introduced in China as the Moto X30 Pro in August 2022, then a month later it was brought to the global market under the name Motorola Edge 30 Ultra.
The camera is accompanied by two additional cameras, each 50MP (ultrawide) and 12MP (telephoto). Video recording supports 8k resolution at 30fps. In fact, the selfie camera has a resolution of 60MP, bigger than the 12MP camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The price in Europe starts at 900 euros or the equivalent of Rp. 14.7 million. It is not yet clear when this cellphone will also be sold in the country.
Infinix Zero Ultra
This cellphone was launched in Indonesia in October 2022 with an advantage in the 200MP resolution camera sector. Even the price offered is not up to double digits.
The 200MP Infinix Zero Ultra camera is equipped with image stabilization and autofocus features. The sensor also uses ISOCELL HP1 from Samsung. The jumbo camera is paired with a 13MP (ultrawide) and 2MP (depth) camera.
The front camera for selfies uses a 32MP resolution sensor. For premium camera specifications, Infinix Zero Ultra is ‘only’ priced at IDR 6.4 million.
Xiaomi 12T Pro
The flagship cellphone from Xiaomi, which was launched in October 2022, is the first from the Chinese manufacturer to participate in enlivening the 200MP camera competition. The sensor also relies on ISOCELL HP1.
The 200MP Xiaomi 12T Pro camera is accompanied by an 8MP (ultrawide) and 2MP (macro) camera. For selfies, the Xiaomi 12T Pro favors a 20MP resolution front camera.
Last January, the no-frills Xiaomi 12T variant with a 108MP camera arrived in Indonesia at a price of IDR 6.6 million. Unfortunately, the Xiaomi 12T Pro was not brought along. In the global market, this cellphone is sold from 749 euros or the equivalent of Rp. 12.2 million.
Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus
Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, presents a 200MP camera for the lower middle class HP through the Redmi Note 12 series. The Pro Plus variant is equipped with a 200MP camera with an ISOCELL HPX sensor.
The camera is paired with two other cameras, namely 8MP and 2MP. For selfies, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus installs a 16MP front camera.
This cellphone is not yet available in Indonesia. However, from the Ministry of Industry’s TKDN page, it is strongly suspected that one of the Redmi Note 12 series models with a 4G network will soon greet the Indonesian market.
For global prices in India, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is priced starting at IDR 4.9 million for the 8GB/256GB variant and IDR 5.4 million for 12GB/256GB RAM/memory capacity.
