Medical doctor, dr. Shannia Tritama, explained, allergy symptoms can be different for each person. Can include mild to severe symptoms.

Severe symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, wheezing, pounding and loss of consciousness. However, these allergy symptoms can be overcome by taking antihistamine drugs,” he said at the launch of the anti-allergic and non-drowsy drug, Alerhis, from PT Lapi Laboratories (LAPI).
Doctor Shannia added, when allergies occur the body will release histamine substances. This histamine will bind to receptors in the body and cause various allergy symptoms.
“Therefore, someone who has allergies must be given AntiHistamine. Examples of AntiHistamine drugs are Loratadine and Cetirizine,” he said.
According to Shannia, Loratadine and Cetirizine are antihistamine drugs that work by overcoming the effects of histamine on specific body receptors. Loratadine is a second-generation histamine H1 receptor antagonist drug that is widely used to treat allergies.
“According to research, Loratadine can reach peak concentrations within 1-2 hours. Its half-life is about 10-20 hours, so Loratadine can last at least 24 hours. Thus, a dose of Loratadine is enough once a day,” he said.
