4-Alarm Fire at Apartment Building in Brooklyn Injures 7, Including 2 Children – FDNY

NEW YORK — Firefighters responded to a 4-alarm fire that broke out at an apartment building in Brooklyn on Sunday, according to the FDNY.

The fire occurred at 7:20 pm in a building located in 881 Schenck Avenearly Wortman Avenuein the section East New York County.

Units arrived to find an intense fire in the yard with many building materials on fire. The fire grew to 4 alarms within 16 minutes, according to officials.

According to authorities, as a result of the fire, 12 apartments in the residential building burned.

A total of seven people were injured in the fire, including two firefighters and civilians, including two children. All were left with minor injuries, according to the FDNY.

As of 10:30 p.m., the fire was under control and the investigation continues at the scene.
