Earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5, which was originally called 4.3, rocked the Regency Tegal, Central Java on Friday (15/12) evening.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake occurred at around 21.24 WIB with the epicenter located 34 kilometers southwest of Tegal.
“Earthquake location: 7.14 South Latitude, 108.85 East Longitude (34 km southwest of Tegal Regency, Central Java) with a depth of 13 km,” read the BMKG warning via account X.
BMKG said that the details of the earthquake were still not completely accurate because data information prioritized speed.
“The results of data processing are not yet stable and can change as the data is complete,” explained BMKG.
Many netizens who live in Tegal and the surrounding area said they felt the earthquake shock. Several residents living in the Cisaga, Bantarkawung Brebes, Kersana Brebes, and Banyumas areas admitted that they felt quite strong earthquake shocks.
Not long after, the BMKG updated its report and changed the strength of the earthquake to magnitude 4.5 with shaking felt as far away as Cirebon, Brebes, Banjar and Subang.
