SV Sandhausen has reacted to the injury of its number one and signed a new goalkeeper.
Niko Rehnen will be SV Sandhausen will be out for a long time. The number one of the third division team has injured his meniscus and needs surgery.
Sandhausen reacted to Rehnen’s injury and signed Dennis Gorka, who was out of a club. The 22-year-old goalkeeper was most recently under contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf and also presented himself to Alemannia Aachen this summer. But the Kaiserstädter decided not to sign him. Now Gorka has landed in the 3rd division.
“We were able to react quickly to Niko’s absence and remain capable of acting in the goalkeeping team. With Dennis we get a young and ambitious goalkeeper who has been trained at the highest level,” explained sports director Matthias Imhof. Last season, Gorka played 15 times for Fortuna Düsseldorf’s regional league team.
“With Dennis, we have chosen a young goalkeeper who has received excellent training and has been able to work at the highest level with the Fortuna Düsseldorf pros and also get a taste of professional football. I see great potential in him and am sure that he will fit in perfectly with our goalkeeping team!” says SVS goalkeeping coach Daniel Ischdonat.
Dennis Gorka is after Emmanuel Iwe, Jeremias Lorch, Dominic Baumann, Lucas Wolf, Niklas Lang, Jakob Lewald, Marco Schikora, Besar Halimi, Luis Idjakovic, Stanislav Fehler and Niklas Kreuzer and Jonas Carls the 13th newcomer for the 2024/25 season.
Gorka, who was born in Cologne, joined Fortuna Cologne’s youth team after starting out at SC Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind for the 2016/17 season, before moving to the youth performance center of second division club Fortuna Düsseldorf a year later. There, Gorka went through all the youth teams and made the jump to the professional squad for the 2020/21 season. Until his contract expired at the end of last season, the goalkeeper was in the professional squad on a few occasions but without playing. Instead, he made 61 regional league appearances for the regional league team, in which he kept a clean sheet 16 times.
“This door has now opened for me, which is why I want to take advantage of this opportunity and am very grateful to the club for it. Of course, I know that the circumstances of my commitment are unfortunately not ideal, as it came about due to an injury,” explained the 1.91 meter tall new signing between the posts.
