The former Bundesliga club KFC Uerdingen is facing the final end: “Despite the promises made, we can only be amazed at the sudden departure of the investor after he had previously made payments as agreed,” said insolvency administrator Claus-Peter Kruth.
According to a press release from Krefeld, KFC Uerdingen 05 Fußball GmbH is expected to be settled in regular bankruptcy proceedings, and a short-term conclusion of the proceedings is no longer to be expected. On the last day of the match, Uerdingen had still managed to stay in the 3rd division.
However, the Krefeld club no longer had a future in the third division in mind. According to KFC, Kruth had actually agreed with investor Roman Gevorkyan for the coming season on a restart of the KFC in the regional league. “The investor is not available for this,” said Uerdingen.
The KFC had allegedly been imposed by the German Football Association (DFB) to deposit a high seven-figure amount for the granting of the third division license. According to the KFC, this could not be met by the club on time.
“The, from our point of view, extraordinarily strict license conditions are likely to be due to the pre-insolvency management of the KFC,” said lawyer Kruth. Without an investor and thus without financial planning security for the coming season, there would be “no more positive continuation prognosis” for the KFC. The insolvency plan accepted by the creditors is therefore no longer feasible.
Kruth: “We understand the big disappointment very well. Unfortunately, there is no alternative to this step. The fact that we have even made it this far is thanks to the many supporters, especially the employees and fans, who have supported the KFC in the past difficult weeks and months We would like to thank you very much for that. “
