JawaPos.com – Member of the National Immunization Expert Advisory Committee from ITAGI, Soedjatmiko said that vaccines are not the last solution of the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that if a person is injected with a vaccine, it does not mean that he is free from the Covid-19 outbreak.
According to him, the most important thing is to prevent Covid-19 by implementing health protocols, especially applying 3M, namely wearing a mask, washing hands with soap or a handsanitizer and maintaining distance. Health protocols must remain in place until the pandemic ends.
“So even though you have immunized you must still wear a mask, wash your hands with soap, keep your distance or not crowd until the pandemic has subsided,” said Soedjatmiko in a discussion entitled ‘Indonesia Prepares Vaccination’ via an online broadcast, Wednesday (2/12).
Soedjatmiko said, efforts to prevent Covid-19 were effective by implementing 3M which would then be supplemented with vaccinations. He did not deny that Covid-19 could spread to anyone through the nose, mouth and eyes.
“Continue to enter the cells of the respiratory tract, lungs, digestion, and blood. At first the complaints were not specific but over time the virus could damage the lungs, blood vessels, heart, kidneys, and eventually the patient could die, “explained Soedjatmiko.

He said, in Indonesia as many as 80 percent of positive Covid-19 patients were aged 19 to 59 years. Meanwhile, the age vulnerable to contracting Covid-19 is at the age of 59 years.
“But if at least 70 percent of that age is vaccinated, then automatically those over 59 and under 19 years of age are protected. This is herd immunity. But keep 3M so as not to be infected, “said Soedjatmiko.
