39th Annual Hyères Festival: Fashion, Photography & Accessories Competitions 2024 – Registration Open Now!

The Hyères Festival, which will be held from October 10 to 13, 2024, opens registrations for the fashion, photography and accessories competitions, in partnership with the Villa Noailles association. For this 39th edition, applications must be submitted until December 12, 2023.

In total, ten fashion designers, ten photographers and ten accessories designers will be preselected by professional juries. The registration conditions are mentioned on the Villa Noailles website.

To become a winner, candidates will have to defend the quality of their project. It is possible to make a collective application, in pairs only for the three competitions.

Fashion designers will have to create men’s, women’s or gender-neutral collections. Mixed collections will be refused. The use of eco-responsible materials or processes will be strongly encouraged.

Four prizes in the fashion category will be awarded: the Grand Prix of the Première vision jury, including a creation grant of 20,000 euros awarded by Première Vision Paris, visibility during the Paris show which will be held in February 2025 or even a collaborative project with arts and crafts, up to 20,000 euros.

The le19M Métiers d’art prize will celebrate the best collaboration between the ten competing fashion designers and ten of the houses belonging to the Métiers d’art such as Paloma, Montex, Goossens, Lognon, Lesage, Lemarié, Maison Michel. The winner will benefit from a grant of 20,000 euros to carry out a new creative project with the art houses of their choice.

The Atelier des materials prize will reward one of the ten finalists of the Fashion prize for the creation of a silhouette made from materials made available by the workshop. The latter will receive a selection of dormant and recycled materials worth 10,000 euros. Finally, the price of the eco-responsible Mercedes-Benz collection will offer a financial grant from the German brand of the same name.

On the photography side, only photographers who have not had a major exhibition in a gallery or cultural institution can participate. The competition does not discriminate by genre, but fashion and fashion still lifes will be favored. It is also recommended that photographers take an interest in fashion photography. The works of the ten finalists in competition will be unveiled at the Villa Noailles in a collective exhibition, produced by the art center and its partners.

The prizes awarded will be: the 7L Photography Grand Jury Prize, the American Vintage Photography Prize and the Public Prize of the city of Hyères.

Regarding the accessories competition, participants will have to produce seven accessories. Three prizes will be awarded: the Grand Prize of the accessories jury, the Hermès Prize for fashion accessories and the Public Prize of the city of Hyères.

A first professional selection will take place in Hyères in December 2023. A jury will then meet in Paris in January 2024 to select the ten finalists in each category, who will be revealed on this occasion.

The Hyères Festival has supported young talents in the fields of fashion since 1986, photography since 1997 and introduced its competition dedicated to accessories in 2017. Alongside these competitions, the event offers round tables and exhibitions throughout the four days.

For thirty years, great designers have been members of the fashion jury such as Martin Margiela, Jean-Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Azzedine Alaïa, Ann Demeulemeester, Christian Lacroix, Dries van Noten, Raf Simons, Karl Lagerfeld and Glenn Martens.
