38th Provincial Theater Festival in Olavarría

For five days, the public will be able to enjoy a varied program of plays from across the province of Buenos Aires, selected at their respective regional theater festivals.

The jury in charge of evaluating the works and choosing the three Buenos Aires representatives for the National Theater Festival is made up of the actor, playwright and director Nicolás Blandi; the playwright, teacher and director Analía Fedra García; and the director and actor Hilario Vidal.

The programming for Tuesday, November 12, began at 5:30 p.m. in Chamula with “Hasta los ojos. Emotional miniature”, from Morón (Region 5). It is a dramatic one-woman show by Gisela Canale in which Griselda brings parts of her story: clear memories as if they were happening now, blurred, ungraspable memories. Memory becomes matter, splashes it. When, where, how did it all start? If you put the pieces together maybe it can be sorted. There are words that are gone, there are words that cannot be said, where the void is created, the texture, the marrow, appears. The one-man show directed by Valeria Castro Benarós and performed by Yanina Manocero tells us about love and disagreement. It has the direction and production assistance of Débora Sanchez, the sound design of Juan Barallobres and the spatial design of Laura Poletti. “We were in the wonderful Chamula room, which we want to thank very much, as well as all the people who came to the opening, they made us very happy. Until Saturday we will be having a beautiful party,” said Yanina Manocero after the function that opened this edition of the provincial meeting.

At 7 p.m. at Punto de Giro it was the turn of “When that moment arrives,” one of the representatives of Tandil (Region 11). Starring Agustina Villanes Avaca and Eugenio Deoseffe and directed by Javier Lester Abalsámo, it is a scenic, satirical story with black humor through the language of puppets. A comedy from the Company “Lupa, company of dolls” to put death in your pocket when that moment arrives. The puppet making was in charge of Eugenio Deoseffe and Agustina Villanes. “We just finished the performance and we are happy to be in this instance and to be able to share this work that premiered two years ago, which has many performances under its belt but had never been in a provincial festival. The Lupa de Tandil company specializes in theater of objects and in this case the work is an alternative look at death where the line of the living and death – which he teaches his work to his little daughter – intersect. I hope those who didn’t have the opportunity can see it soon. “We are happy to have shared it with this packed audience,” commented Eugenio Deoseffe.

The first day of performances concluded after 10 p.m. with the showing of “Once upon a time… the werewolf” by Carlos Casares (Region 12), a crazy comedy where three actors have to tell, overcoming various inconveniences, the legend of the seventh male child. who turns into a wolf. Based on “Nazareno Cruz and the wolf” and through different scenes, the viewer learns the story of the Cruz couple and their unfortunate son Nazareno, who, having been born seventh, is born under the prophecy that on full moon nights he will be a wolf. With a lot of humor and set in the countryside, this comedy makes us learn more about the mythical legend. Starring Pablo Basualdo, Cristian Rengach and Darío Basualdo, with book and direction by Darío Basualdo, and lights and sound by Alejo Rengach. “For us it is a pleasure to be in Olavarría, a city we did not come to twelve years ago. We are three actors telling the story of Nazareno, overcoming the various problems that arise in the play and that all the characters must play. “It is the first play that is presented in this theater during the party and we have until Saturday to continue enjoying the theater that is produced throughout the region and it is great to meet and I invite you all to join this party,” Pablo Basualdo from the Arlequino group closed.

The 38th Provincial Theater Festival of Buenos Aires is a co-management of the National Theater Institute, the Provincial Council of Independent Theater (CPTI), the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Municipality of Olavarría.
