$38,315 raised at the Coaticook Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament

COATICOOK. Thanks to the generosity of golfers and its many partners, the Jean-Coutu Tournament of the Fondation du Centre de santé et de services sociaux (CSSS) de la MRC-de-Coaticook raised $38,315 last Friday (September 20).

134 athletes took to the fairways of the Coaticook Golf Club during this day. More than 200 guests then took part in dinner a little later in the evening.

Vicky Désorcy, president of the Fondation du CSSS de la MRC-de-Coaticook, is delighted with the results. “We are really very happy with the community’s response,” she says. “The amounts collected demonstrate the population’s attachment to their hospital.”

The amounts will be used to finance various projects on the organization’s table. First, we want to build new play modules in the prosthetic gardens, both on the side of the Long-Term Care Center (CHSLD) and the Maison des aînés.

“We are also thinking about creating a therapeutic train,” says Ms. Désorcy. “It is a space that reproduces a train car with scrolling images. We are also talking about renovating the cafeteria and some common areas at the CHSLD. These are big projects that will require a lot of work.”

The CSSS Foundation of the MRC-de-Coaticook will hold a final fundraising activity this year on November 8. In collaboration with the GMF des Frontières and Coatic’Art, paintings will be put up for auction.

THREE DOCTORS HONORARY PRESIDENTS

The Jean-Coutu Golf Tournament of the Coaticook MRC Health and Social Services Center Foundation took place under the honorary presidency of Doctors Josée Beaulieu, Patricia Landry and Steven Bartlett.

“Their involvement is important to us and we wanted to highlight their work,” confides the organization’s president, Vicky Désorcy. “They decided to stay with us a little longer to build a bridge between the old and new guard of doctors. It’s all to their credit.”

Patricia Landry felt honoured when she was offered the honorary title, along with her colleagues. “Coaticook is a tight-knit community,” she says. “People are behind everything that has to do with health. I wanted to get involved in my own way.”

Steven Bartlett echoes the same sentiment. “Seeing all these people who are so generous, I find it extraordinary. People care about their hospital and their clinic. It encourages us to continue our mission.”

These health specialists also work with certain equipment purchased through the Foundation. “Some of this makes our work easier. It also helps recruit new doctors,” insists Josée Beaulieu.

New technologies from the various campaigns include a blood pressure monitor and an ultrasound machine.
