An XL corona test location in Zwolle that was never put into use has cost 2 million euros. This is evident from documents from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS).
A pavilion was located next to the IJsselhallen in Zwolle between the beginning of June and the end of August. A company from Losser in Twente would carry out 25,000 corona tests per day, but the test pavilion never opened. The company Hestia and VWS have now reached an agreement about the costs incurred for recruiting medical personnel who could perform the tests, reports RTV East.
The company won the tender last summer to carry out tests in four locations. But after the construction of the four locations, three locations proved to be enough to meet the demand. That misjudgment is partly due to the cancellation of festivals and the closing of clubs, he wrote The Stentor earlier. The capacity of the existing Tests for Access test lanes proved to be sufficient.
The ministry said earlier that Hestia would not receive any financial compensation. “The XL location has not been taken into use, so no costs have been incurred for the operation here either. This has also been agreed with Hestia,” says a spokesperson for VWS.
The company in Losser was allowed to carry out corona tests in other XL test locations in the Netherlands for three weeks. That has compensated for the impending loss “which seemed to run into the hundreds”, the director says.
