Twitter has tagged 37 percent of all tweets from President Donald Trump since Tuesday’s US election, reports CNN.
The social media platform announced ahead of time that it would issue a warning to widely watched tweets spreading disinformation about the US presidential election. Twitter eventually decided that 16 of the 43 tweets President Trump sent out since Tuesday should be labeled.
Users can click on that label to see what’s in the tweet.
In these tweets, Trump claimed, among other things, that the elections were stolen and that large-scale voting fraud took place. He provided no evidence for this.
Trump says he will go to court to fight voting fraud. Even before the elections, he regularly claimed that postal votes would be used for fraud.
While Democrats have made frequent use of the postal voting option in recent months, Trump advised his supporters against it.
No more preferential treatment
Several television networks in the United States declared Democrat Joe Biden the winner of the US election on Friday night. Donald Trump thus becomes one of the few American presidents who has not been re-elected.
Twitter announced on Friday that if Trump is no longer president on January 20, he will no longer receive preferential treatment on the platform. This means, among other things, that tweets that are in violation of Twitter’s policy will no longer necessarily be provided with a warning, but can be removed.
