“The declaration can be submitted electronically, by post with return receipt, at post offices, or in person at the offices of the revenue agency,” stated the NRA. The deadline for filing income declarations for 2024 is April 30, 2025, with a 5% discount available for those who declare and pay electronically by March 31, 2025. However, this discount is capped at BGN 500 and is only available to individuals with no unpaid public obligations.
Pre-Filled Declarations and Expanded Services
Starting in march, the NRA electronic services portal will offer pre-filled personal income tax returns for users with a PIC or electronic signature. These pre-filled forms will include details on income from employment, civil contracts, royalties, rental properties, and even internet sales. The territorial directorate has also demonstrated its efficiency in processing refunds, returning over BGN 10 million in general income tax to individuals last year. Of this amount, BGN 8.5 million was deposited into the accounts of nearly 14,000 individuals within just three days.
