As part of the screening carried out on those arriving in the Region, three positive cases were detected on the island of São Miguel, which presented a SARS-CoV-2 screening test with a negative result on arrival and whose analysis carried out after the sixth day produced a positive result, namely a female person, 51 years old, from an air connection with the American continent, and two male individuals, 66 and 87 years old, from an air connection with the Portuguese mainland.
On the island of São Miguel, within the transmission chain related to an entertainment establishment in Ponta Delgada, two females, 36 and 67 years old, and one male, 13 years old were diagnosed.
In the context of a chain of transmission reported on November 18, seven positive cases were detected, namely two female individuals, aged 43 and 45 years old, and five male individuals, aged between 21 and 60 years old.
A 52-year-old female was also diagnosed, as a result of the epidemiological investigation into a new transmission chain reported Friday.
The epidemiological investigation related to a transmission chain centered in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, and reported on 16 November, also revealed a positive case, which reports to a 46-year-old female.
As part of a chain of transmission associated with a hotel establishment located in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, six positive cases were detected, referring to four female individuals, aged between 7 and 82 years old, and two male individuals, aged 30 and 59 years.
During the epidemiological investigation of another transmission chain on the island of São Miguel, a 37-year-old male was diagnosed.
On the island of São Miguel, two new transmission chains were detected, having been diagnosed with two female individuals, aged 30 and 57 years, within the scope of the chain associated with a daycare center in Ponta Delgada, and a male individual, aged 9 years , in the context of a chain centered in the municipality of Povoação.
It should be noted that a transmission chain considered extinct on the island of São Miguel is considered active again, after having diagnosed a 33-year-old female.
Also on the island of São Miguel, four female individuals were diagnosed, aged between 30 and 48 years, the cases being under epidemiological investigation.
On the island of Terceira, in the context of a transmission chain centered in the municipality of Praia da Vitória and reported on 17 November, three positive cases were detected, corresponding to two female individuals, 20 and 58 years old, and one individual male, 62 years old.
Within the transmission chain associated with a restaurant in the parish of São Mateus, two positive cases were detected, referring to a female person, 55 years old, and a male person, 60 years old.
A 15-year-old female was also diagnosed, and the case is under epidemiological investigation.
It is important to mention that all contacts close to the prisons and the cases in epidemiological investigation have complied with prophylactic isolation since their identification by the Municipal Health Delegation.
11 recoveries were recorded in the Region, five female individuals, aged between 16 and 63 years old, and four male individuals, between 22 and 56 years old, on the island of São Miguel, a female person, 25 years old , on the island of São Jorge, and a 58-year-old male individual on the island of Pico, bringing the total number of recovered cases in the Region to 390.
Furthermore, it should be noted that a positive case reported on November 18, referring to a 43-year-old male individual on the island of São Miguel, presented documentation proving infection and subsequent recovery, which is why he is no longer considered active in the Region.
The Region now has 13 extinct transmission chains and 21 active transmission chains, 14 on the island of São Miguel, five on the island of Terceira, one shared between the island of São Miguel and the island of São Jorge and one on the island of São Jorge.
So far, 771 cases of infection with the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes COVID-19 disease, have been detected in the Region, with 390 recovered cases and 287 active positive cases currently, of which 225 on the island of São Miguel , 57 on Terceira Island, two on São Jorge Island and three on Faial Island.
