Talavera de la Reina, May 23, 2023.- The mayoress of Talavera, Tita García Élez, has attended the presentation of the 35th Talavera Book Fair, which will be held between June 2 and 11 in the Jardines del Prado, as a traditional setting, and which this year will have the black novel in the epicenter.
The Councilor for Cultural Promotion, Carlos Gil, has valued the collaboration that has taken place over the years between the booksellers, the association and the City Council, “which has normally supported this activity with dedication and, of course, with a lot of work”.
At the book fair, according to the councilor, “there is socialization between the reader, the book, the bookstores, the author or the author, also accompanied by a series of activities that favors said meeting.” Thus, he has highlighted that in this 35th edition those who come to the Jardines del Prado will be able to enjoy 12 booths and almost 30 activities.
This Book Fair, “comes to enrich the cultural world of the city and, of course, touching the book with our hands, being able to see the latest news and also the volumes published by Talavera authors or even some edition that the administrations have made public”.
Regarding the change of dates, Gil has indicated that the programming was approved unanimously in the Governing Council of the OAL of Culture on March 16, having transferred to the booksellers that in June this activity could be carried out in the Jardines del Prado and to avoid the electoral campaign since “this fair is by itself sufficiently important so that it cannot be politicized”.
In this presentation, Gil has been accompanied by the president of the Booksellers Association, Nazario García, who has announced that it will be his last edition at the helm; and by the director of the municipal libraries, Adoración Manzano.
