35th Edition of Concurs de Grups de Teatre Ciutat de Tàrrega Kicks Off with Record Audience Attendance

The Teatre Ateneu de Tàrrega was filled with audiences on Saturday night at the start of the 35th edition of the Concurs de Grups de Teatre Ciutat de Tàrrega, organized by BAT and dedicated to amateur theatre. The president of BAT, Joan Ribó, stated that “we are very happy after having had a full audience in this first performance, we hope it will be like this every Saturday, a fact that shows that the spectators have a desire for theater as well as the poster is hopeful.” Ribó explained that “we have sold 117 vouchers in advance, a record number, and today (Saturday for the spectator) about 400 people have enjoyed the performance.”

For her part, the mayor, Alba Pijuan, celebrated the good figures with “record bonuses” although she acknowledged that “in Tàrrega you get into the habit of going to the theater since they have programming throughout the year.” Pijuan also valued amateur theater, from which “all the professional theater done in Catalonia comes from,” while she positively valued that BAT is committed to comedy because “people want to laugh and have a good time.” The Grup de Teatre de Sant Hilari of Sant Hilari de Salcalm triumphed with a play of its own production and written by Marta Fàbregas, Amor, hem de parlar, a comedy in which different couples with diverse problems coincide in the waiting room of a renowned therapist in which tensions, jealousy, communication problems and other doses of irony are unleashed. The contest will last until March 23 and next Saturday it will be the turn of e Qollunaka from Terrassa with Cyr@no, an update of this classic.
