The number of new corona infections reported for Austria on Monday is just over 3,500. Vienna is therefore below the 1,000 mark.
3,523 new infections with very few tests have been reported in Austria since Sunday. That’s below the average of 6,045 over the past few days. The seven-day incidence in Austria was 468.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and one Covid death was registered, according to figures from the Ministry of Health and the Interior.

The federal state with the most new infections was Vienna on Monday, followed by Lower Austria and Upper Austria.

This means a seven-day incidence of 731.8 in Vienna, 542 in Lower Austria, 342.3 in Upper Austria, 366.3 in Styria, 402.9 in Carinthia, 296.2 in Tyrol, 373.7 in Salzburg , 463.8 in Burgenland and 235.6 in Vorarlberg.

1,479 corona infected people in hospitals
1,479 corona infected people are currently being treated in the hospital. That means an increase of 69 cases from the previous day, but less than a week ago. The number of intensive care patients also increased within one day from 70 to 81 patients, but remained roughly stable in a week-to-week comparison. 7,381 infected people have recovered within 24 hours.

82 corona deaths in the last seven days
The one reported death is well below the seven-day average of twelve victims per day. A total of 82 deaths were registered in the past week. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 19,200 deaths have been reported in connection with a corona infection.

Around 28 percent of the corona tests are positive
The 3,523 new infections with only 12,377 registered PCR tests result in a very high positive rate of 28.5 percent, which is well above the seven-day average of 8.5 percent. There were a total of 82,136 active cases Monday, down 3,859 from the day before. 4,791,014 positive test results and 4,689,678 recoveries have been reported since the pandemic began.
