35 beaches in the province of A Coruña, awarded with the blue flags | Radio Coruña

Thirty-five beaches in the province of A Coruña have obtained the blue flag for this summer. Arteixo is the municipality with the most awards, with seven in total. It is followed by the city of A Coruña, with five, and Oleiros with another five sandy areas.

In A Coruña the blue flags will fly in Riazor, Orzán-Matadero, Oza, As Lapas and San Amaro. In the area, to name a few, in Arteixo, they have the distinctive Barrañán, Sabón and Valcobo, in Oleiros the beaches of Bastiagueiro, Santa Cristina and Mera and that of Perbes in Miño.

In Bergondo, the BNG requests a space on the beaches of the municipality to take the dogs in summer and Easter. It would be, according to his proposal, on a fixed schedule and complying with a series of rules throughout the year.

Galicia increases the blue flags of its beaches to 111, but falls to third place among communities

Galician beaches have received a total of 111 blue flags this year, which is four more than those awarded last year, although, overall, Galicia falls to third place among communities, surpassed in these distinctions by both the Valencian Community, like last year, like Andalusia.

In the 2021 edition, 115 Galician beaches have requested these distinctions, one more than the previous year, and 111 have received them, four more. They correspond to 34 municipalities, of which 14 are in A Coruña, 12 in Pontevedra and eight in Lugo.

On this occasion, Spain has obtained a total of 713 Blue Flags (615 beaches, 96 marinas and two in sustainable tourist boats) that will fly from June, which is 25 more than last year. Thus, Spain, with 25 beaches and 2 more ports, maintains its international leadership. They are followed in this classification internationally by France, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Portugal.

Specifically, the number of Spanish coastal municipalities participating in 2021 is 249, five more than in 2019, of which 676 beaches were candidates, 14 more than last year. In addition, 15 beaches received the award for the first time ‘Blue flag’, while 34 beaches recover it from the previous year.

By communities, the Valencian Community continues to lead the number of Blue Flags in Spain with 153, 137 on beaches and 16 for ports. It is followed by Andalusia with 137 ‘Blue flags’, 115 on beaches, 20 on ports and 2 on boats; and Galicia with 122 badges, of which 111 are for beaches and 11 for ports. Last year, Galicia occupied the second place, after Valencia.
