34 years in prison for Hispanic for abuse of very young children in New York – El Diario NY

Félix Barahona Rosales was sentenced in New York to 34 years to life in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting two children aged just 5 and 6 and sending explicit photographs to a teenager.

A jury had found Barahona Rosales, 48, guilty of predatory sexual assault against a minor, disseminating indecent material to a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor, on September 28 and has now received his sentence, reported LoHud.com.

The prosecutor of the westchester county, Mimi Rocah said in a news release that Rosales began attacking the victims when they were 5 and 6 years old. It is unclear how she had access to the children. The attacks occurred repeatedly in Mount Kisco, Ossining and Peekskill between 2005 and 2007 for one of them, and between 2013 and 2021 for the other.

He also sent explicit text messages and photos of himself to a 13-year-old teenager via Facebook Messenger between January and February 2018.

The Westchester Police Department arrested Rosales on June 14, 2021 after an investigation between the county attorney and Ossining and Peekskill police. He had previously been convicted in the state of Georgia for sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor. in January 2011.

Prosecutor Rocah said one of the victims thanked the jury in a statement to the court for “believing me from day one. I’m proud of myself for speaking out because “No child, adult or person should go through the things I went through.”

Now Rosales received three consecutive maximum sentences in a state prison. If he is released from prison he will be subject to 10 years of subsequent supervision and must register as sex offender.

He National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) has warned since 2020 about an increase in cases of child pornography during the pandemic by the increased time of adults and children online.
