34 reports of thrombosis and low platelet count after vaccination | Inland

A total of five people have now died, three of whom almost certainly had this side effect. All five got the shot with AstraZeneca.

According to Lareb, out of a total of 34 reports, it is almost certain that it concerns the rare side effect in 18 reports. It concerns 12 women and 6 men. Of these, 5 were between the ages of 20 and 40, 2 between the ages of 40 and 60, and 11 were older than 60 years. Symptoms occurred within 4 days to 1 month after vaccination, 15 times after the first vaccination and 3 times after the second vaccination. “In the other reports, a connection with the vaccination is also possible, but it is less clear that it concerns the specific side effect,” according to the Side Effects Center.

Lareb also announced that a total of 448 reports of death following a corona vaccination have been received so far. That is 39 more than two weeks ago. This concerns 263 people aged 80 or older, 132 people between the ages of 65 and 79 and 51 under the age of 65. The exact age of two people is unknown.

In total, the organization has received 93,453 reports of possible side effects so far, most of them after the first vaccination. The most commonly reported side effects are headache, ‘feeling unwell’, muscle aches, fatigue, chills, puncture site pain, fever, nausea, joint pain and swelling at the puncture site.

The report concerns reports received up to and including 4 July and concerns approximately 16.5 million vaccines given. This concerns approximately 11.8 million vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech, 2.8 million from AstraZeneca, 1.3 million from Moderna and 600,000 from Janssen.

The combination of thrombosis and a low platelet count is listed as a rare side effect in the package leaflets of the AstraZeneca and Janssen vaccines. It is referred to as ‘thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome’ (TTS) in the package insert.
