Four 4 children died from dengue fever, spread over four sub-districts in Situbondo, namely in Kapongan District, Asembagus District, Situbondo District and Suboh District.

The Head of Communicable Disease Prevention and Control at the Situbondo District Health Office, Heryawan, said the number of dengue patients had increased, compared to the same period in 2020.

“In 2020, 108 people were infected with dengue fever, 1 of whom died. While this year in the same period, 339 people were recorded, 4 of them died,” said Heryawan, Friday (6/25/2021).

According to him, the trend of patients with dengue fever in mid-March to May 2021 tends to increase compared to the same period in 2020. It happened because of the weather and high rainfall in Situbondo.

“In fact, the average dengue patient is toddlers and children, there are also adults. Therefore, to prevent dengue fever, the Health Office continues to promote the larva-free Situbondo Movement or Gesit Batik, to suppress dengue patients,” he explained.

Heryawan added, to reduce the number of dengue fever, it must start from the awareness of the community itself, through the Gesit Batik program it is hoped that it can make people aware of the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their respective environments.

“In addition to promoting the Gesit Batik program, but to suppress the spread of diseases caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, we are also promoting the 3M Plus movement in Situbondo Regency,” he added.

Furthermore, Heryawan added, to prevent the spread of dengue fever in Situbondo, his party asked the entire Situbondo community to report to the Situbondo Health Office and to the nearest Puskesmas, if there was an incident of DHF for fogging or fumigation.
