332 km / h – Tornado attacks southern Czech cities; death toll increases (+ VIDEO)

A hurricane in the south-east of the Czech Republic on Thursday killed at least five people and injured hundreds, rescue services said on Friday.

The hurricane broke out on Thursday night, when the whole country was hit hard by thunderstorms, causing severe damage in seven towns and villages. Whole buildings and overturned cars were destroyed, trees uprooted and power lines damaged.

The media reports that wind speeds may have even exceeded 332 km / h.

More than 120,000 households have been left without electricity.

Army involved in rescue. Police officers and rescuers from other parts of the Czech Republic, as well as rescue teams from Austria and Slovakia, arrived.

Helicopters and drones are used to search the ruins.
