Kim Defaux is no stranger to La Butte aux Bois: she has been working in the luxury hotel since the spring of 2012. The first years in the sales department, in recent years as right-hand man to Yannick Bouts (former general manager) and then to Willem Asaert. “Kim and Willem have always worked closely together,” says Jochen Leën, owner of La Butte aux Bois. “While Willem was mainly involved with the press and relations, Kim took on the day-to-day management of the hotel. This experience makes her an ideal candidate for the role of general manager. It has been there since before we had 5 stars, before our major expansion and before the Michelin stars of our restaurant. That is saying something.”
In her position, Kim Defaux will not only have to show hospitality and an eye for detail, but will also place respect for the environment at the heart of it. In the coming period she will be assisted by Jos Schols, who has been the general manager of sister company Hotel Stiemerheide in Genk for decades.

The new general manager at La Butte aux Bois is happy with her promotion: “I’m not going to do this alone, but together with my team. I don’t think I would have wanted to fill this role in a different location simply because I don’t know the product and the team elsewhere. Here it is. I know the strength of my team and the beauty of the product. We are one family, everyone who works here does so with at least as much conviction as I do.”
Willem Asaert does not disappear completely from the scene. He will continue to take care of the PR for the hotels and restaurants in the group.
