324 generators for emergency power supply of hospitals – Government Courier

From January to March 2023, 324 generators with a capacity of 9 kW to 264 kW with a total cost of 3.7 million US dollars were delivered to the regions of Ukraine most affected by the war, according to the Ministry of Health.

The generators were provided within the framework of the project “Strengthening the stability of the heat supply of the population of Ukraine”, implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services in Ukraine (UNOPS) with the support of the Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund (UHF). The project is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure and regional military administrations.

“This winter was without exaggeration the hardest for Ukraine in all the years of independence. The enemy’s constant attacks on our energy infrastructure endangered the operation of the medical system, that is, the lives and health of many Ukrainians. Thanks to the active support of international partners and the received generators, we managed to provide electricity to hospitals, and therefore uninterrupted access of patients to the necessary medical care. I sincerely thank everyone for their concern and a reliable shoulder of support for Ukraine in a difficult time of trials,” said Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.

Each of the generators will work in the event of an emergency power outage and supply voltage to the network. In the event of an emergency, thanks to autonomous power sources in medical institutions, intensive care units, operating rooms and critical equipment will work without interruption.

“The fact that the country overcame all the challenges of last winter is a huge achievement, which can be attributed primarily to the incredible resilience of the people of Ukraine,” said Tim Lardner, Regional Director of UNOPS in Ukraine. — The work continues: billions of dollars are needed by 2023 to restore damaged critical infrastructure and lay the foundations for a green and prosperous future for Ukraine. UNOPS will continue to work with partners, including UHF, to help direct resources to where they are most needed and to use them effectively for the benefit of the people of Ukraine.”
